Trust & Safety

Our customers are exactly the people phone scammers target, so we hold ourselves to rules you can verify — and repeat to anyone who calls you claiming to be tech support.

The voice is an AI, and it says so

Every Pronto call starts with the assistant telling you it’s an AI. We think that honesty is a feature: the assistant is endlessly patient, available at 3 a.m., and never annoyed by a question. If you want a human being involved, say so on the call — a real person on our team follows up through a support ticket.

We never ask for passwords. Ever.

The assistant will never ask for your password, PIN, Social Security number, full card number, or a security code texted to your phone — not even “to verify your identity.” When a fix involves signing in or resetting a password, we text you the official company’s own link (Apple’s, Google’s, your bank’s) and you type your private information there yourself, where we can’t see it. If you start to say a password out loud, the assistant will stop you.

This is also a litmus test you can use everywhere: anyone who asks you to read out a password or a texted code is scamming you, no matter who they claim to be — including anyone claiming to be Pronto.

We never ask to control your computer

Pronto works by talking — we guide, you click. We never ask you to install remote-control software or “let us in” to your machine. (The “Microsoft technician” who calls asking exactly that is a criminal, and our assistant will happily explain how that scam works. If something feels off, call us before you click.)

Payment happens on our website, nowhere else

You add prepaid credit at pronto.help through Stripe, one of the world’s largest payment processors — we never see or store your card number. Nobody from Pronto will ever ask you to pay by gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or an app someone walks you through installing. The price is public and simple: $0.50 a minute, billed by the second, no subscription.

If we can’t fix it, the call’s on us

When a call ends without your problem solved, we automatically credit that call back to your balance — no arguing, no forms. You get an email confirming it. Details in the FAQ and our Terms.

Calls are recorded — and then deleted

The assistant says at the start of each call that it may be recorded. Recordings are automatically deleted after 90 days; we use them to check the quality of the help you got. Transcripts and short summaries stay with your account so the assistant can pick up where you left off — and you can have everything scrubbed on request. The full schedule is in our Privacy Policy.
